Holland has - east of Amsterdam - beautiful windmills, nature reserves, impressive fortifications, an ancient castle and some medieval picturesque towns on the former South Sea coast.

Biking on scenic and completely flat paths you can see the winding river Vecht, amazing windmills, the manoeuvring of ships, typical Dutch house-boats, very old country-houses, several forts, a beach town and ... the magnificent fairy-like 13th century castle of Muiden: you can join here a 1 hour guided tour.

This bike ride is an unique combination of nature and centuries old monuments.

Preparations:

1. buy bike map in any bookstore of area around Weesp / Muiden
Study route with help of above small rough map:
Weesp -> along river Vecht -> Muiderberg -> Muiden + Castle -> Weesp

2. check opening times castle: http://www.muiderslot.nl
Normally: open April - October from 10 am - 4 pm; weekends+festive days 12 am - 5 pm
Entree fee 2008: adults € 8,75 p.p.

- to reserve a bike (only by phone!) and ask for conditions:
- per bike in 2007: deposit € 50 (cash) + € 7,50 rent (cash) + bring passport

- check departure time + platform
